Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been suffering for a long time due to illness took his last breath at AIIMS Hospital in New Delhi. Vajpayee who is a great speaker and poet was also a big sports lover too. It was during his rule and he was the first to give permission for the Indian team to go to Pakistan and win their hearts after the war. When the Indian team visited him, he advised the players to win hearts before the historic tour of Pakistan.

It was after the bold initiative of Vajpayee in 2004, the Indian Team made a historic tour of Pakistan in the shadow of terror. During his tenure, Vajpayee removed the sour in the relations between India and Pakistan with the help of this game. It was then, almost after 14 years gap for the first time, Team India toured Pakistan to play five ODIs and three Tests under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly. All the players of the Indian Team had a special meeting with Atal Bihari Vajpayee, before going on tour.

During this occasion, Vajpayee showed the spirit of the game and his love towards sports. He not only encouraged the Indian team but also gave them a bat as a gift. The bat provided by Former Prime Minister had written on it as: “Not only sports but heart too, good luck. Even though the Cricket ties between India and Pakistan are not good recently, the initiative of former Prime Minister Vajpayee was commendable to improve it, which reflected his love for sports.
