The first T20I match between India and Australia took place in The Gabba, Brisbane today. India won the toss and chose to bowl. In the beginning, Kuldeep Yadav took two important wickets of Aaron Finch and Chris Lynn for India. But Glenn Maxwell and Stoinis helped the Australian team to score a total of 158-4 at the end of 17 overs. The match was paused due to rain and later it was reduced to 17 overs for India to chase the total.
When India opened up their innings, Rohit Sharma (7) was caught out in the first ball of the fourth over. Following this Lokesh Rahul (13) and Virat Kohli was also dismissed by the Australian bowlers. However, Shikhar Dhawan gave a little bit hope for India scoring 76 off 42 balls. After his dismissal in the 11th over, Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant tried to score more.
But in the last over of the innings, Marcus Stoinis bowled a wonderful spell of the slow ball and took the wicket of Karthik and Pandya back to back. Thus Stoinis led Australia to a 1-0 lead. It was a close chase, but the Indian team failed to claim a victory.
