As the world is gearing up for the fast approaching ICC World Cup 2019, there are already some stark assessments emerging between the captaincy styles of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. Rhodes observed that Dhoni displayed tremendous mental stability and handled the game brilliantly while Virat Kohli was a little aggressive on the field forcing solutions across the pitch. He also went on to comment that Kohli would like to look things in the eye and impose resolutions instantly, while Dhoni used a controlled mindset and led by example even setting high standards of fitness.
Virat Kohli was all praise for MS Dhoni and even revealed how he was a crucial addition to the team. MSD has been an integral part of the Indian Cricket Team since his debut and has played some impressive innings with his inimitable batting and subsequent captaincy. He has earned a rightful place in people’s hearts and his ingenuity and strategy led India to the T20 World Cup, the Champions Trophy and the 50-Over World Cup. Kohli, in an interview to the Times of India, was overwhelmed as he explained how he was mentored and the importance that Dhoni emulated, for team building. Yet, both seem to have had contrasting ends in the IPL 2019 this season. Dhoni fired all way and led his team, the CSK, to the finals, while Kohli’s team RCB, was unable to garner enough wins to keep them in the race.
For the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019, both MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli will be joining hands and will look forward to clinching the third title in Wales, England. On June 5, 2019, India will play its first match against South Africa as the event begins May 30th.
