BCCI Invites Application for Fresh Support Staff

According to the reports, BCCI is on for a rejig of their support and back-end staff. This means Bowling Coach Bharat Arun, Batting Coach Sanjay Bangar, and Head Coach Ravi Shastri may have to re-apply for their respective positions. They were all provided with a 45-day extension period post World Cup 2019. But with the recent performance of the team on the international pitch, the panel has raised several questions about the current composition.

Ravi Shastri was designated Head Coach in mid-2017 after the Champions Trophy. Ravi Shastri was serving as India’s director of cricket before taking on the position as a Head Coach. Now, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is inviting fresh applications and the noteworthy Ravi Shastri’s term will end after India’s tour of West Indies, next month. The said extensions were also to accommodate the current staff for the tour.

With a heartbreaking 18-run defeat in the first semi-final against the event runners-up New Zealand at Old Trafford, Manchester, the Indian cricket team bowed out of the ICC World Cup 2019 edition. There have been endless speculations following the end of the Indian team’s campaign regarding split captaincy, change of leadership, modifications in team management and MS Dhoni’s retirement. Besides, team India failed to win the ICC Trophy under Shastri’s guidance, although they did manage to win the test series against Australia. The former Tamil Nadu batsman, Sunil Subramanian was appointed the manager of the team earlier. Initially, he was granted a one-year contract which was later followed up by an extension.

Following the Lodha Committee’s recommendations, BCCI is making recruitments in a more transparent way than ever. Application acceptances end on 30th July, at 5:00 PM IST.
