It looks like Glenn Maxwell will not be playing the South Africa tour due to an elbow injury. As he notified the medical staff, about his increasing pain after the BBL finals, a specialist surgeon indicated the need for surgery.
There were some fragments of bone in a scan of the elbow joint, following which, the captain of the Melbourne Stars, has an operation scheduled on Thursday, post which, he is ordained a recovery period six to eight weeks.
While his return is much awaited, Trevor Hohns expressed his discontent at the absence of Glenn Maxwell as the player was slated to return to the national side. After the summer break, he would be playing the 20- and 50-0ver formats for the team, which is not to be now. During the latter stages of the BBL, the pain increased and nothing except surgery can rectify the situation.
The decision was tough for Glenn Maxwell as he thought that representing Australia was one of the highest honors he could ever get, in cricket.
