Australian player Glenn Maxwell who underwent elbow surgery in February was likely to be recovered in 6-8 weeks which means he is likely to miss the beginning of the IPL. All-rounder hasn’t played since October 2019 as he took mental-health sabbatical leave although for the South African tour he was included in Australia’s limited-overs squad.
He was managing his elbow pain throughout the tournament which got increased over the final weekends and got the news that he needs surgery, After which he planed out his year saying my return date will depend on the recovery of my elbow. During finals he was in a lot of pain and it started to get worse and he requires immediate surgery, the surgeon told him. It was a bit shocking for him and he changed his plans a bit. Maxwell is planning a busy year for upcoming IPL, T20 blast, international fixtures, and the Hundred. All-rounder has also started light batting drills for upcoming international fixtures.
Maxwell was not confident with his pain to play an international match. During his sabbatical leave, he played for the BBL season and said he is ready to play for an international match now. Australian millionaires picked Maxwell for 10.75 crores for Kings X1 Punjab during the auction held in December although he could miss few matches in the beginning.
